Just wanted to make you aware that June 3rd is a Sunday. Do you mean June 2-3, which would be the Saturday and the Sunday?
Thanks, Thomas – will change!
Should I leave the kids at home?
Philip, you might want to contact the local organizers closer to the time of the event. I’m not sure what, if anything, will be offered in terms of childcare.
Ok so…here’s what happened. I’m at this music camp and I learn about this music and i’m like…sobbing my eyes out.I play the violin so I can read but…reading and singing is like…..so foreign to me and I’m frantically trying to learn. I don’t have a sacred harp book but I want one and…there’s so much. So I wrote all that to ask…when’s the next meeting cuz I want to try to make it(I’m going to be a college freshman) and what can I do to help me learn how to sing a little faster because…I love this music.
I’m so glad that you found shape note music! There are MANY singings around, where ever you live. The best way to find them is on fasola.org and Warren Steel’s regular local singing page. You’ll also find links on the fasola page so you can buy a Sacred Harp book cheaply – don’t pay the inflated prices on Amazon. And you can download the Shenandoah Harmony preview packet for free!
