Countdown to March 2-3: book launch weekend!

Jan 9, 2013 by

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this site, for a good reason – we’ve been busy finishing the book!  I uploaded our files to the printers’ web site yesterday.  What a great feeling!  God willing, we should have the books sometime in mid-February.

Although there may be a few singings that get books earlier, we’ve decided to make March 2-3 our official launch weekend.  Members of the committee will be traveling to the Northern Shenandoah Valley First Saturday Singing (Berryville VA), the Ohio State Convention (Dayton), the North Carolina Sacred Harp Convention (Raleigh), and the Ireland Sacred Harp Convention (Cork) with books in hand.  We’ll also be at the Western Massachusetts Sacred Harp Convention the following weekend. Books will be $22 in the US and €20 in Europe.

This has been a long process, arduous but incredibly rewarding.  We wouldn’t have made it without the encouragement, support, and assistance of all of you.  So, THANK YOU!!!  and see you in March!

is it first come first served for books? or can we reserve a copy in advance?

    • Good question, Sarah, and one that’s particularly relevant for Europe, where the books will be limited to what Dan and I can put in our luggage. I think we’re going to try to organize a system of advance orders for Cork and we’ll let everyone know when we do. Within the US, people should let us know if they have unusually large orders–say, a box (6) or more–but we should be able to bring plenty because we’ll be driving. Stay tuned.

Hi Rachel- any news as to the rumored ebook/PDF availability? Thanks!

    • Chris – we’re working on it, but it will require some preparation. Right now we’re focusing our energy on getting the print book out.

You can be sure there will be a large number of folk interested in the reply to this!!

Would it be possible to link up with others travelling to Cork from the States (to share the carrying of books) or perhaps post some and carry some if the quantities desired are very large?

Also, will it be possible for you to put a note of the eventual reply to this on Facebook or the Cork Convention web site?

    Many thanks!!

    • Margaret – that’s great to hear! Thanks for your interest in the book. I think we first should get an estimate of how many books we need and go from there. I’ll talk to the other committee members and get back to you. And yes, we’ll post on the Cork site also. As far as shipping books, that’s possible at any time so if folks don’t get enough books they can order them later.

    • Thanks, Nym! And thanks for your help, as well. I’m looking forward to your book, too!
